Derma membrane structure (DMS) - the base for individual skin care, skin protection and dermatics

Base creams are universally used for the preparation of dermatics as well as for cosmetics. Their special benefit is the ability to be adapted to the individual skin (skin care) or to skin problems. Modern base creams are chemically and physically similar to the membrane structure of the natural skin barrier.

DMS-base creams

  • are recommended for skin care, skin protection and for dermatological use. The characteristic features of DMS-creams allow a smooth transition from dermatological treatment to preventive skin care without changing the base cream.
  • are successfully used for the supportive prevention of skin disorders. Especially persons susceptible to dry skin, impure skin, acne, neurodermatitis, psoriasis, etc. benefit from the preparations.
  • are free of preservatives, perfume, mineral oils, emulsifiers, amines, dyes and silicones. Therefore they adapt very well to problem skins.

Free of emulsifiers

  • Conventional creams contain emulsifiers ("emulsions"). Seen under the microscope, emulsions generally show droplet structures.
  • With only a few exceptions, emulsifiers disturb the integrity of the natural skin barrier and when cleansing the skin, they lead to an increased loss of natural barrier substances.
  • Emulsifier-free creams prevent the loss of natural barrier substances and thus avoid dry skin.
  • The effects of emulsifier-free creams can still be measured after their use was discontinued.

Adaptation of base creams

The composition of DMS may vary. Enriched with active agents (AA) like nanoparticles (high lipid content) or liposomes (low lipid content), DMS can be adapted to many individual requirements. Nanoparticles and lipomes penetrate very well because of their small particle size and their content of unsaturated phosphatidylcholine (PC). PC is very rich in linoleic acid and therefore very effective against blemished skin and prevents acne. Along with saturated phosphatidylcholine (PC-H) unsaturated PC supports the skin barrier by inclusion of linoleic acid into ceramides with a time delay (important for prevention of neurodermatitis und ichthyosis).

Special additives like sun protection filters (SPF) and mineral salts (MeX) protect against sun or rather regulate the metabolism of the skin. Moisturizing ingredients (NMF) increase skin humidity, triglycerides (MCT) and other emollients increase the content of fatty materials in the skin.

Oleogels - base creams free of water

In contrast to DMS oleogels transport more fatty ingredients into the skin barrier and are free of water. Oleogels are especially recommended for the skin care if the skin suffers from an osmotic sensibility.
